Level | Volga Banks

Volga Banks is an exciting, immersive, highly detailed, multiplayer level set during WWII in the city of Stalingrad for an unannounced project. I worked closely with my colleague Will Bullen to create an environment that not only looked great, but played well, offering players a mix of open combat on the river bank, and brutal close quarter combat within the ruined city.

The story is centered around a landing area south of Fallen Fighters Square and the Red Army, out of all other options and under intense artillery and air attack, ferried large amounts of their soldiers across the mile-wide stretch of water, known as the river Volga, to strengthen their front lines.

My responsibilities on the project were:

- Research, preparing design documents and briefs
- Blocking out the level to gain early gameplay impressions
- Iterating based on playtest feedback
- Helping the artist when and where I was needed, primarily dressing exterior areas
