The concept behind Cu Chi is that I wanted to bring together multiple environments found in this area of Vietnam. The extremely flat landscape, dusty small towns, neverending rice fields, and rubber plantions that dominate the horizon. Give the player just a taste of what it's like there. Lots of challenges making this level and a lot of effort went in to making such a flat landscape playable performance and gameplay wise.
My responsibilities on the project included:
- Research, creating design documents and briefs
- Blocking out the level to get early gameplay impressions
- Iterating based on play test feedback
- Dressing most of the level, including; creating art requests, establishing composition, ensuring consistent narrative, lighting, art direction.
- Optimisation of the entire level
Majority of Environment Art was handcrafted by Thorsten Hartrampf, Jan-Philipp Küppers, Will Bullen, Tom Wydeven, Glynn Richards, Sam Prescott.
